Bevan's of Kingston to open new store in Effingham

This autumn The Street in Effingham village will see the introduction an exciting new presence with Bevan's Butchers and Delicatessen opening at the beginning of October. Bevan's will bring its mix of modern expertise and traditional values to the community. The family firm specialise in high quality free range meats and cheeses and products such as dry aged beef, award winning sausages and black pudding.

Effingham has had its own butchers since 1959 but retirement and ill health looked set to deprive the area of its local shop. Landlord Colin Gibb said:

'We were delighted to have Bevan's take over the lease to Effingham, they have a brilliant reputation for quality and innovation within the business and, as a Butcher at Effingham myself for 40 years, I am thrilled that a traditional family butchers will continue there.'

Bevan's family butchers has been trading since 1929, its oldest store is in Kingston but it also runs outlets at Garson Farm, Esher and Longacres, Bagshot. Robin Bevan the current owner, lives in Fetcham and is the fourth generation. 'Recent years have seen a real trend in customers being more discerning about the meat they buy' said Robin, 'more and more they are coming to independent, artisan butchers like us, where they can be sure of provenance and quality and build a relationship with their butcher. We are excited to be opening our new shop and are looking forward to getting to know the local community.'

Bevan's will be open 9am-6pm Monday- Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sundays from early October.
